Emily Jensen is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine pursuing a degree as a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Emily graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science, specializing in Clinical Exercise and Rehabilitation. Emily stays involved with CSU Sacramento's campus by participating in weekly practices with the Judo Club at Sac State and dissecting cadavers for the Biological Sciences Department.
CSU Sacramento
Emily was selected by her professor to dissect human cadavers in preparation for anatomy labs for the university's Biological Sciences Department. While enrolled in Advanced Human Anatomy, Emily spent extra time in the labs helping classmates and mastering her understanding of human anatomy. The skills she demonstrated in the class earned the trust of Dr. Alan Ernst allowing her the opportunity to work hands on with human cadavers.
Adventure Club
Emily works in a leadership role at Adventure Club, an after-school childcare program she loved attending in elementary school. Wanting to give other children the same experience she had growing up, she went back to work there as an adult. Emily quickly moved up into her current position where she helps design curriculum for the program, supervises her primary site and assists at others when needed, and works with committees to make improvements to the program.
Emily recently completed Kangeiko training at the Kodokan in Japan. This was a grueling week long trip where Emily was able to refine her skills at the birthplace of modern Judo. Emily was initially drawn to Judo upon learning about the philosophy of Judo and the biomechanical applications of the sport after connecting with Dr. Rodney Imamura at CSU Sacramento. She now attends weekly practices with the Judo Club at Sac State.
Emily has completed a total of 162 observation hours during completion of her undergraduate degree, and is looking to get more in addition to working more personally with physical therapy patients.
20 inpatient observation hours at Kaiser Roseville Medical Center
39 outpatient hours at Rocklin Physical Therapy
103 outpatient hours at Schaack Physical Therapy
Emily began cross country running while attending Oakmont High School from 2014-2018. She fell in love with running there and has since attended numerous 5k, 10k, and half marathon races. She enjoys taking on new challenges and is planning on competing in triathalons and marathons as well.
Emily grew up loving the outdoors and dedicates much of her free time to activities such as camping, hiking, and diving. She believes in encouraging others to lead a healthier lifestyle through a variety of outdoor activities, and aims to help them find what works best based on their background, interests, and goals.
